Frank Lloyd Wright, 1867-1959 . While a purveyor and contributor to the modern classics furniture, Wright is best known as the father of organic architecture.
Born in Wisconsin, Wrights parents preconceived their child for greatness. Wright learned geometric shapes in kindergarten at his mothers persistence, and gleaned from his father a way of interpreting melodies as an intertwined structure. Affordable reproductions can be found from Alphaville.
By the age of 20, Wright was off to Chicago, to study architecture. Finding work and much experience, Wright opened his own studio in 1893. Compounding architecture with engineering in a revolutionary new way, and utilizing products and materials of the time, the Larking Building and the Unity Temple were realized.
Wright streamed constant ideas, developing a philosophy purveying the use of natural materials, and bringing the outdoors in. Pinnacle examples include the Fallingwater House and the Johnson Wax building.
Wright lived through his impressive work and philosophy, entrusting others to carry on the theory of organic architecture through the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation. Modern chairs and contemporary sofas would never be the same.
