Kids of the 21st century have never had it better! The keynote of this era is ‘funky’ and yes! They just want to have fun. Parents take the greatest pleasure in seeing their kids happy, at school; at play; at home, where their every comfort is a fact of life. |

Modern Kids Ball Chair
One such is Eero Arnio, a product of the Institute of Industrial Arts, Helsinki who shot to fame with the Ball Chair which won him numerous awards. One of the first to work with fiberglass and plastics, Arnio realized the potential for this material turning out great ergonomic designs that have described by the Vitra Design Museum as ‘something between a piece of furniture; a piece of architecture, at the same time embodying both the mobile and the established, the fixed.’ Using the shape of a ball, the designer has sliced off a portion, fixing the rest to a swivel base, installing stereo speakers and telephones inside. It is understandable why this piece is sometimes referred to as a ‘room within a room’. This is an item most teenagers would love to call their own bit of heaven. |

Kids Chalkboard Table
New, trendy designs have always been the benchmark coming out of Pfeiffer Lab, the design studio initiated by Eric Pfeiffer as a launching pad for his innovative designs. Using plywood, his penchant for simple; timeless and useful forms is elegant. He believes every piece of modern and contemporary design has to be multi-functional. His experiments with ply led to the co-authoring a book entitled ‘Bent Ply: the Art of Plywood Furniture.’ It didn’t take him long to design the Chalkboard table that brings out the artist in modern kids. The vinyl base sits atop a support of layers of bent ply and the surface covered with chalkboard with a bowl at the center to hold the little artist’s chalk and erasers. The Kids Chair made from molded ply with birch veneer, making it light, yet durable, matches this. The novelty of such kids room furniture holds them enthralled. |

Julian Chair
One look at the Julian chair and one can understand why Javier Mariscal is known as the Peter Pan of Spanish designs, introducing Cobi to the world during the 1992 Olympics in Barcelone. His work is simple and child-like, something kids can identify and feel comfortable with. Made of molded polyethylene with smooth contours this unified piece of furniture is low and wide making it a stable option as kids play furniture. The material makes it suitable for the outdoors as well. |
