Since it’s founding in 1976, Magis has challenged the limits of design and style in modern Italian furniture. From the Step, designed by Andries and Hiroko van Onck, that was sold in furniture stores instead of hardware stores, to the chair “First” by Stefano Giovannoni made by air moulding, Magis has always applied new design concepts in which the emptying of the frame is applied throughout the volumes of the chair and its backrest. Magis has also won awards for the Bottle, Jasper Morrison’s first project for Magis. After several design prizes, it earned a place in the permanent collections of many contemporary art museums, such as the MoMa of New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum of London.
